LOGO (System Properties General Page)

By Hutchy80 ·
I have purchased a 2nd Hand PC with Windows-XP Pro installed from a Company who has their own Logo embedded on the 'System Properties' (general page) just below the Microsoft Logo. I have edited the registry to rename all the ID items on the right side of this page successfully but I can't get rid of the old Company Logo. Has anyone any idea how I can get rid of this logo ? I don't want to have to reinstall Windows to achieve these changes.
Many thanks in advance, your help will be much appreciated.
Regards
Bob

You need to look in c:\windows\system32 for
OEMINFO.INI. If you rename this file to .old, the
logo will go away. You can also edit the file; The format of the file is as follows:

[general]
Manufacturer=Some Manufacturer Name

[Support Information]
Line1=For Technical Support contact:
Line2=
Line3=Manufacturer service dept.

Hi

To remove the logo simply delete the file OEMLOGO.BMP in Windows\System32\

If you want to replace it with one of your own, create an image 172x172 pixels, and save it to the system32 folder as oemlogo.bmp

Good luck

Many many thanks to both Rick_B and Blackcurrent for your replies. Your answers allowed me to do exactly what I wanted to do. Again many thanks.
Funny how the answer was staring me in the face all the time but I just couldn't see it. I think I was looking for something more complicated.
Keep up the good work guys, WELL DONE !
Bob.
