Logon & Restore Network Connections

In Win 98 you could change your network logon options between Quick Logon and Logon and Restore Network Connections.
It appears in Win XP that it is defaulted to Quick Logon as I cannot start a network application from the startup group. When I tryI recieve an error that the path is invalid. I recieve this error with both a Mapped drive or a UNC path.
I need to set Win XP to physically restore the network connection upon startup.
