logon script

By ggebre ·
when you create a logon script, or give permission to a folder to a department how do you, hide the folder, specially when the folder is used by more than one department.

How can I put into logon script so that only users who have permission or have access can see the folder.

Use the $ Symbol after the folder sharename ie Share "DeptA" becomes "Dept$" this share is not visible to any one even the users who have permissions to it then in the login script (for the user you want to give permission to) you can map a drive tothis hidden share.
eg
net use z: \\server_name\DeptA$
the user will get a drive Z mapped to this share no other users browsing the network can see this.
Hope this Helps..............
