logs files corrupted

Iam not able to check my event viewer, when i select security log, application log it says "your log file is corrupted" how it got corrupted & how do i get it back?

I don't know how your log files became corrupted, but they usually live in directory "\winnt\system32\config". Also, when you open event viewer, you may right click on particular log. Click Properties and it will tell you what is the path and name of that log file. You may also right click on log file and click "Clear all Events". After that you will start with a fresh file. If you are still interested in your old log files, you could copy all *.evt files from "\winnt\system32\config" directoryand open them on another computer. To do that, open Event Viewer, right click on Event Viewer and choose Open Log File.
