I have 2 win2k servers. One is dc and another is member server. From member server it takes more than half an hour to log on. It displays applying security policies.

      Hello,
Please can you provide more information? There are many reasons that logon times can be slow. For example, are you using roaming profiles, are your GPO’s running synchronously or not, have you checked the configuration and records of your DNS, what about the SRV records – are they properly updated? It’s rather difficult to give you a definitive answer without a bit of extra information. Have you checked the system log of the event viewer on the DC and Member Server?

It appears to me that your mem server is not pointing it’s DNS to your DC. From your MEM server, Configure your DNS within TCP/IP properties to point to the DC’s IP.

This also applies to XP clients that “hang” when logging into the W2K domain.
