Looking for a PDF Application that Can Accurately Perform OCR on Scanned Do

Hi everyone! I frequently work with scanned PDF documents and need to convert them into editable text using OCR. I’ve tried a few OCR tools, but they haven’t been very accurate, especially when dealing with documents that have complex layouts or tables.

Could anyone recommend a PDF application with reliable OCR capabilities that works well on scanned documents? Ideally, I’d like something that can handle different fonts and layouts without too many errors.

    Thanks in advance!

Can you tell what programs you already used and found not good enough? Can you rank them also, from better to worse? That would be useful information for our members. And we know what not to suggest for you, because you already tried.

The language these documents are in, might be relevant also. Good tools use a dictionary or even AI. And not all tools have dictionaries for all languages. So what’s yours?

Text will be better recognised then layout, I’m afraid.

Hi, I’ve used both Adobe Acrobat and Afirstsoft PDF for OCR, and I’d recommend either one depending on your needs.
For Adobe Acrobat: it’s really reliable, especially for more complex documents with multiple fonts, layouts, or tables. The OCR accuracy is quite high, and it handles scanned documents well, even if the original quality isn’t perfect. Plus, Acrobat offers a range of editing features once the OCR is complete, so you can easily make adjustments if needed.
Another one is Afirstsoft PDF: I found Afirstsoft PDF to be a great alternative. Its OCR tool is also accurate, and it’s very user-friendly. The best part is that it’s less expensive than Adobe, so it’s a good option if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly without sacrificing too much in terms of performance.
