Looking for assistance with choosing a degree.

By Donnchad ·
I've been working in telecommunications for eight years now, dealing with telephones, switches, computers, networks, etc. I spent six years in the military doing that, and just over two in the corporate world. I just finished my AA at a university, and I'm trying to decide which path I should take from here.

I've considered a few majors: Comp Sci, Information Systems, and Electrical Engineering. My ultimate goal is to be an 'engineer' of sorts in convergence (VoIP, telephony, networking), but I want to make sure I get off on the right foot. Comp Sci and Info Systems are obvious choices for me for the networking portion, but EE is also something I am considering.

Any opinions on which degree would aid me in my career as either a Network Engineer or 'engineer' in convergence?

1.) study the local market where you plan to end up.

2.) find out exactly what type of work the "engineer" does in those local companies

3.) start your own business doing what you really like doing.
