Looking for cool cases

By CWFREE.COM ·
I'm looking for a cooler looking computer case,
the plain ol box is boring.
I like the new Imac with it's round case.
when are case makers going to get up to date and get away from the ugly ol box.

The computer cases are changing ,but it will not change to the statue of a MAC
You will have to settle for the cases of the PC type or switch to the MAC with their round look
PC's are durable and it easy work on try this with a mac

Mostly what people do when they want to spice up their computer case is they install see-through plastic sides, neon lights, and other features.
Here is a website that is devoted to custom computer cases, with submissions by people:

Until the standard design for PC components changes, the case manufactures are stuck with provideing square boxes.

The main problem with moving away from the "plain old square box" is that there are no parts to fit into a different shape box.
Also, there are specific standards that the case manufactures need to adhere to to meet the "ATX" specification.

There have been several attempts at alternate box sizes and shapes. I recal seeing toaster shapes, cubes, PC's built into the back of the monitor, and a few that defy description.
All have failed because custom hardware costs more than standard hardware.
They also have been entirely "low" end PCs with onboard everything, and no way to upgrade.

You can see some alternate designs, from time to time, in the clearance section at www.tigerdirect.com
After the manufacture folds, Tiger, and others, buy up the inventory cheap.

Apple gets away with it because they make the only hardware for the IMac.

Presently, you are limited to rounded tops, sculpted front panels, and unusual colors and materials.
