PHP practice and resources

php.net! Seriously though, what do you want to do with it? Is your boss telling you to do server side stuff but won't pay for training? Look through freelance sites for projects and build samples on your server/URL. As for certification, I dunno if there are any worth the stress studying for. Good luck!

PHP.net

Have you done much javascript in your pages?
Do you enyoy it?
To do something like PHP right, you need to learn to program, though I've got to say many have preceded you down this path without bothering....

When you are doing backemd work it will be hard to avoid databases, which will be another thing to learn.

One important tip. when you start downloading snippets of the web of how to do X, remember a lot of them were written by total numpties. Just because it's there doesnt mean it's right or good.
Don't just use them, learn and check them.
It's as good a way of picking up do's and don't's as any other.
Happy learning.

PS
Start simple....
