Looking for tech gadget

Pardon my technological ignorance…I have been looking for some sort of hand held device that would have basic accouting software to enable me to enter purchases as I make them. I think this would make keeping track of my spending much easier. Do you know if such a device exists? If not…maybe someone should invent it.
