Looking for web based reporting tool

By mariobrf ·
I have been requested to develop a project reporting tool which is nowadays based in Excel spreadsheets. Basically I have one project status spreadshet from every project manager which needs to be consolidated in a single spreadsheet to be sent to high management for the project performance discussions.

I am studying alternatives and I believe that creating an external/unique database is the best choice, however I need some tools to help me creating the reports.

I am thinking about MS Access but I am not handling very well the Web publishing process.

Does anyone know how to create reports that could be easily accessed remotely via an intranet page and which could be stored in a central database?

Many thanks

It can be done

My advise would be to download Microsoft Web Developer Express editon, it is my favorite price (free). From here you can begin to develope a web application to do exactly what you are asking. You can store your data to a central database using which ever DB is your preference. I have written quite a few simple database applications to input and extract data. It is pretty easy once you get the syntax down. I'm sorry I can't get much more specific than that unless you have more specific questions related to your project.

For reporting purposes, try to use FastReport.Net. Check it here:http://fast-report.com/en/products/FastReport.Net.html
