Try Safe Mode

by Toivo Talikka In reply to looping login

After powering the computer on, press F8 and select Safe Mode. If you can login normally in Safe Mode, some of the programs in Startup may be causing the problem. Use the utility msconfig to turn off suspect programs from Startup.

If you suspect that the problem is caused by a virus, have you run a full scan using an anti-virus application, and a full scan using a reputable anti-spyware application? In both cases, you have to use uptodate definitions.

Sounds like a joke I once played

by w2ktechman In reply to it says logging on an

where I added to the teachers logon script, the logoff command...lol -- he made me administer the Novell server for 3 months for that one...where was that rat anyway?

Ok, back on subject, your user profile is corrupt, or a script was written to log you off at logon, or a virus/malware program is running.

Go into safe mode, and log in as the administrator of the system. Create a nwe account and copy the files/settings to it from the old account.
Log into the new account.
