Loss of internet connection thru wireless router

    Locked

    by bkhast ·

I have a Belkin G F5D7230-4 version 7001 wireless router. I was already having issues w/ loss of wireless internet connection, which was annoying enough. Now I’ve lost complete internet connection thru the router. I can bypass it & just go thru the modem for my desktop, but that doesn’t help my issue for the multiple laptops & other wireless needs in our house. I’ve contacted Belkin tech support 3 times today alone. No one has been able to help me so far. I’ve been elevated to a “level 2 tech issue” and am currently awaiting a phone call. However, in the meantime, I’ve followed all the step by step instructions to update the router firmware & reconfigure the router, (cloning the WAN connection) which is what the 1st 3 tech supports were trying to assist me with earlier, but I still do not have the use of the internet thru the router. This router is less than a year old. Does anyone have any other ideas?

      Power Off and on Cycle?

Quite often with these Power Pack Items they do not have anywhere near enough Capacitance to filter out Spikes and other rubbish on the mains so they get scrambled when AC/Heating switches on or other high draw loads like that. What you need to do when this happens is to unplug the device allow it to discharge the capacitors in it for about 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

If that doesn’t work then it’s time to start flashing the Firmware but that shouldn’t be the first option unless it’s very old and has been compromised.

Also as you say that you’ve been suffering Drop Outs for a time now what OS’s are being used on these NB’s? Quite often with Belkin Products they do not support the newest Windows OS’s as well as what they where designed to do. 😉
