lost a window

i used to be able just to plug my camera in my USB lead and a window would appear asking me what i would like to do. It gave me a list to choose from but this doesn’t happen anymore. how do i get this window back I’m using xp pro. I can access the pictures by opening my computer and double click on the camera mem card ,but i like it better when the window opens. thanks fred
