Lost Desktop icons

User on our network changed his background from the default. All the desktop icons, eg. for My Computer, Recycle Bin and his apps went missing. On revert to the Default (none) they are still missing. Also, when I go to windows explorer and just try to drop some “shortcuts” on the blank Desktop, they seem to disappear immediately! Can’t figure it out. Any help appreciated? Thx in advance…
