Lost drive partition – just gone

I have a friend with a 2-partition hard drive. Partition C: and D: on one hard drive. Recently, the D: partition just disappeared – under disk management, doesn’t show at all. D: has been reassigned to one of the removable media drives.

He had all his media on the D: partiton.

Windows XP Media center, sp3 (may have happened when sp3 was installed), NTFS both partitions. Intel dual processor, Sony system.

Any ideas how to get it back???
