last few days i had problem with my mail exchange.
the file priv1.edb was disappeared form my server mdbdata, i can say by itself.
how? I have no idea upto now? coz the server was working fine until saturday i left the office.
On monday morning, few users complained the can’t send and receive their mails!
then i started finding out why is that happening, there is where i found that the priv1.edb was not there, which is the database file for all the e mails.
what i did next is to find where that priv1 could be gone. searched *.edb and see if it was shifted. but i did not get it.
to make sure that my sure are back on work, i had to recreate the mdbdata folder aand rename the old one whereby the priv1.edb was regenerated and other files. my user were able again to send and receive mails.
then i had to regenerate their profile again in their computer since there were new settings which were differ from the old one which was bring the dialog box which want to connect or work offline or cancel.
i adviced them to archive their emails so as to be on a safe side. they all did as i advised.
the problem raised afterwards:
there are few who lost there past e mails
there are others who lost there mails
they were not found in the archived file!!
Yesterday, i was learning these behavior that what went wrong where could be the mails and the contacts lost.
then i noted that during recreation of the user profile on their computer there is new mailbox generated which comes new with everything fresh.
so it seems when the archive was done the contact and mails where not moved from the mailboxes so when the new profile was generate the old mailbox was dropped with everything in it.
my problem is now is i want those mails and contacts back.
how can i recover the old mailboxes?
how can i solve out this mess up?
what could be the problem for the lost of priv1.edb
please if you have any idea?
