Lost Exchange Server Information Store

by islandmgr . Updated 24 years, 1 month ago

In upgrading our system we somehow lost the use of our Exhcange Server Informaiton Store (Priv.edb & Pub.edb). We tried everything we could to restore a copy from backup and repair the existing file with no luck. It saddens me that doing all we can to save this information was to no avail.

Has anyone discovered a program that “goes in the back door” of exchange server information store to retrieve data?

Rebuilding the calendars and contacts is not impossible, but making sure nothing critical is lost is the issue. I saved all emails of importance in Outlook as well (as a record of events) and it sadens me that all this is lost.

How do YOU make sure your Outlook – Exchange Server data is safe and secure and available after a crash? (Ordinary backup being the obvious, is not what I am looking for, thanks.)

One thought I had is to export to a coma delimited file (.csv) that can be used for later import. It is also in english (ASCII) and readable.

What are your thoughts?
