Lost files on cd

On a recent trip to China, I took lots of photos with a digital camera. I had them loaded onto a cd while on my trip. When I got home I loaded more photos onto the same disk. During this process a message said that the disk was corrupted, and now it is not reconized at all. Is it possable to recover the first photo files that were put on the cd?
