Lost LPT1 & cd rom installing Win 98?

I recently formatted the hard drive on a pc. When installing Win 98 I lost cd rom support.
I installed IDE driver from Creative now CD rom works intermitantly and LPT1 has yellow exclamation on device driver tab. Suggestions?
