I’ve been working in the end-user, tech support team of a 1000 user company. I’ve been doing this for about 18 months or so. But I’m starting to get tired of doing this grunt work solving small time problems like installing, configuring and maintaining desktop OSes and apps. I have a uni degree in Computer Engineering and a growing interest in telecommunications; and I’ve taken some of the MCSE core courses, and I’ve been getting ready for the Win2kPro test, but given the nature of the tasks I perform, it seems difficult to find a way to develop my skills for the more advanced core tests. Now, I’m at a loss. I definitely don’t wanna spend the rest of my life fixing app installations, but I don’t know what’s out there, and what my choices are. What does a NetAdmin do? A SysAdmin? How can I know if I have the profile to become a Developer? What are the advantages of my current profile (degree, tech support exp)?Any light from you tech gurus will be appreciated.
