Excuse the length of this but I wanted to be sure you got the whole story (and hope you don’t experience the same).
I am running Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit and have been having problems with Windows losing sight of the second partition on my WD MyBook Elite (1TB).
I was continually being asked to reformat that drive and, finally, exasperated, I moved all of the files from that partition to the primary partition and, when the secondary was empty, I re-formatted it.
I CONTINUED to receive the same message.
Well, since I no longer had Partition Magic (supurb program) I elected to do the only thing left to me and that was to “Shrink” my 350GB second partition believing the free-space would show up on the Primary partition. I then deleted that drive letter.
To my HORROR, I now had a Primary (well, complete disk) containing the Original 650GB. The 350GB from the secondary was nowhere to be found!
I’ve run chkdsk with the fix and recover options but, no luck. I am still stuck with a missing 350GB.
Now, have any of you any ideas about finding and restoring that missing 350GB?
This drive is primarily used as a external USB backup drive but I’m reluctant to continue storing files on it until I can restore it (HOPEFULLY) to its original size of 1TB.
HELP!!!!!!
