Lost sound on a Intel 82801 AC’97 Audio

I have lost the sound on a etower 700irs machine with a Intel 82801 AC’97 Audio card. I have reloaded the sound drive but still have no sound system says it has an unknown problem do you have any idea what I can do? This machine was given to our school. I have no back-up of any sort. It has me os on it.
