Lost w2k op. master, what happens to AD

We have two w2k servers in our AD-domain.

The “primary” server (operations master, global catalog, root) crashed because of a faulty hard drive.

The IDE-Raid system couldn’t bring it back to life and the backup tape isn’t too recent (slap myself).

The question is, will the user and group and all that information become replicated from the other server if I re-install the crashed server and then restore system from the tape?

Or will the currently used “secondary” server get the old data that would be restored to the “primary” server?

Which way will it happen?

Ask to clarify, my english isn’t too good and my server admin skills are just novice.
