Lotus Notes archive file - cannot access email from my old archive file

By Harry.Vazanias ·
5 years ago I archived my Lotus Notes emails. The archive is a NSF file. I no longer use Lotus Notes but would like to access my old emails from 5 years back. I installed Lotus Notes on my laptop but whilst I can see the archive email folders, I cannot see any of the emails in the folders. I think that this may have something to do with my ID, as I recall that I used to need an ID file to be on my PC. I no longer have this. Has anyone got any idea on how to access an old Lotus Notes email achive file if you don't have the original ID file? I have installed Lotus Notes 7.

ID File

It definately sounds like the ID file. Is the email from when you were part of a server environment, or has this always been a home setup? You would need someone from the server regenerate the ID file. Not sure of you can do this from a stand alone client.

Lotus Notes

Hi...yes it might be connected to your ID file...the version of the Lotus Notes that you used when you archived last five years ago will not be an issue in your problem.
Also, your Note Admin before has your emails Expanded. and when you archive it, it will make your archives corrupted.
But please try to go to the Archive Properties then look at the location of your archive. maybe the path of the archive is different from the current location of your archives.

Don't you think that you are a little late here?

This question was asked in 2007 and is along past it's use by date.
