Lotus Notes Data to MS SQL

By Borg7of9 ·
We are programming a small SQL database for the Web, however we have found that most of the data is already in Lotus Notes. We know nothing about lotus notes, but I think it is not OBDC. I believe I could manualy export the data and then import intoSQL, however, I would like to automate this process, as when data is added to Lotus Notes, I would like to write something to go get the additons once a day or every few hours.

If anyone can help me or provide me a step by step guideline on how to do this from the Lotus Notes side, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

If you are using Notes R5, you can use a tool called Domino Enterprise Connection Services (DECS). If you have an application server license, this will have automatically been installed when you installed Domino. This is probably the cheapest and easiest way to move the data from Notes to SQL without any programming. The following are a couple of links to information regarding DECS: http://media.lotus.com/appdev/decs/decs1.htm

If you would like more help on this, please let me know and I can try to help further.

One way I have addressed this problem before is to use a third-party application called ecKnowledge. It used to be called ReplicAction. This tool allows you to map data migration from certain Notes fields to MS SQL fields. You can also schedule this tool to "replicate" at a predetermined schedule if needed. See www.cashal.com for more info. One hint, do not install this tool on the same box as the Domino server.
