Lotus Notes email

User on dialup setup with W2k machine and all works well apart from inability to email from his Notes Client. Receives email OK but receives timeout message when trying to send or replicate when dialled up to network. Worked OK prior to change to W2K and updated to latest Notes version.
What is causing the timeout? Is there some settings in W2K that control this?

It maybe a Notes client setting problem. You could go into personal address book to check "Location" document. Or, maybe the "server" document of your mail server.

Good Luck!

Can you open the mail DB on the server while dialled in? Very slow but will at least confirm if communicating with server.

Can you ping the Notes server using it's Notes name & the NT name(sometimes different names)?

If not, check the name resolution(WINS/DNS/LMHOSTS), bit strange it receives though!! Did you change the name resolution method when upgrading to 2k?(ie. using DNS now instead of HOSTs file)

If yes, check the connection documents for the servers in the PAB. If connection doc exists you could try deleting & recreating to eliminate any corruption problems.

When you try replicating is there more than 1 DB to be sync'd? If so, try changing the order they're replicated in, could be 1 DB has problems.

Try this
In your go into personal address book to check "Location" document. Their will be a default location setting levee it like that crate a new location for dial up and in advance tab their will be a field called destination server in there just put your WAN IP address (203.xxx.xxx.xxx) and tell notes to use this connection when use in internet mode or dial up mode.
