No. I'm not trying to compress any file. There are too many bytes in the A: and I want to know how to get rid of them.

Too many bytes on your floppy disk? What file/program/appliction is on your A drive?

You need to find files that you can delete in order to free up space on the disk.

If this is your Operating System boot drive, delete the internet explorer cache files, and any files over 2 weeks old in the windows\temp folder

If this is a removeable disk, just get a second disk to move some older files to.
