lsass using lots of memory

By 9miles ·
Our organisation recently applied SP4 to many servers. On many of these machines users have experienced slow performance. Looking at task manager we can see that lsass.exe is using up to 300 Mb of memory. Has anyone else experienced the same and what is the solution ?
Help much appreciated !

The Lsass.exe process is responsible for management of local security authority domain authentication and Active Directory management. This process handles authentication for both the client and the server, and it also governs the Active Directory engine. The Lsass.exe process is responsible for the following components:
Local Security Authority
Net Logon service
Security Accounts Manager service
LSA Server service
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
Kerberos v5 authentication protocol
NTLM authentication protocol

Possible solutions to this problem:

Stop 0x00000024 or NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM

Troubleshooting Stop Errors

Start out with those and see what kinds of resolutions these would make. I can't promise these will help or not. Just trying to help out and do a bit of research on your specific problem. Hopefully it gets worked out soon.

You don't by any chance had disabled the service via msconfig have you? if you have i would re-enable it again.

If you are running Mcafee anti-virus for exchange make shure you are using the latest version.
