Operating system WinXP Prof with SP3
and a bunch of programs that loads on start up…
I am the only default user with Adm rights and notice some locks up starting after about 1 hour of re-starting the system, it will start with short ones 2-3 seconds and may be every 10-15 min. if I am going slow on the system, I noticed that cpu usage jumps to 100% and stays stady never going down even after eliminating lots of loaded startup progrmas, usage goes down to 80-90 then back to 100!
As time goes on freezes become more frequent and noticable might last up to 5 min. sometimes mouse moves put with the hour glass and someother time I just have no mouse indicator at all! Task Manager at that time show a certain program not responding, as I jumb to other (running processes) will show by their turn not responding and soon all processes are not responding for a few min might go up to 15 as after that I just shut down and re-start loosing patiens.
When no mouse and complete feeze happens some times the Alt+Ctrl+Del will work and show up the regular window asking if I want to logoff shut down…. and I choose Task Manger, window disapears and desktop will show empty, then little by little icons start comming back then my last program I was in before the lock up then finally the task Manager then in few seconds later all non-responding programs shows for a second that they are running then back non repsponding and things keep changing until system stabilizes and back to normal.
In other situations even Alt+Ctrl+Del will not work I just get a BEEP, then again the above sequence starts, Or just simply nothing happpens and have to restart the system.
Sorry for my deteled description but I know there are a lot of similar luck ups that does not apply to what I have, and if no one can help at least we have a new research point to find a solution!
Step tacken to solve the problem
1-Virous, antispy, and all well knows problems scans 100% virous free and McAffee security center lets me know any changes any potentially unwanted program might attempt.
2-Driver and Software updates all done
3-An online system check on Dell Support system shows all periferials passed all tests – so no hardware failures!
4- And this is the most imortant part of the WHOLE PROBLEM that made me decide to make that post!
WHEN i LOGIN AS ADMINISTRATOR, SYSTEM WORKS JUST PERFECT!!!

I’ve been on the system for hours on the net, I googled my problem and surfed lots of sites and forums …Not one single lock upor Freeze!!

My conclusion is some start up program that loads only as a user and did not load when Administrator causes the problem, or load with some program I did not use so far!
At the moment I can not run comparasions on the config files but I did before selective start up and any program I was suspecting turned not to be the problem, the only program I always used is the anti-virus but I am still using now and without problems as I said.
I’ll post any further discoveries as I work on this problem, however any suggestions would be appreciated.
Sorry for my long descriptions.
Best regards
