M/S Word instability

By guycadcam ·
I am using M/S Office 2007 & using Word to edit pages of a publication which are then distributed by Email to family members. The pages consist of text & sometimes pictures down the right hand side & explanatory sand boxes down the left side. In transit however the recipients tell me that some text appears to have moved in a vertical plain leaving relevant sandboxes in the wrong positions.
I would be most grateful if you could please advise me as to the probable cause & a remedy ? Very many thanks.

At a guess here I would think that it depends

On the version of Word that is being used to read the document. Office 2007 uses the .docx Format natively where as older versions of Office use the .doc format to save Word Documents.

M$ made the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack to allow users of Office 2003 to read Office 2007 Documents but when you convert the 2007 Document it doesn't necessarily maintain the formatting.

This is a Known Issue with 2007 and is part of the reason by a lot of Government Sites insist that when you electronically lodge documents they have to be in the .doc format not .docx.

You could try changing your default Save option to the .doc format but even then depending on the version of word being used there may still be some formatting issues.

It's probably better not to use any complex Formatting and just enter the text/pictures without applying any sort of Formatting.
