MacBook Big Sur – “You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power..

Hi all!

I have a MacBook pro running on Big Sur and I just got the message “You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the Restart Button.”

My MacBook has been working fine for a long time and I don’t know what could be causing this issue. Any suggestions?

That doesn’t sound like a problem to me. Maybe there was a security or an iOS update downloaded and installed on the MacBook. I am certain you will get some additional feedback, but you should go into your settings to confirm the latest iOS and security updates. Write down the version #’s and when the latest updates were installed.

unless it is happening continually.
You may have set automatic OS updates and one may have been installed and now requires a reboot to set it in place.
