MacBook NetBIOS Not Allowing Changed Username

As far as I can see it’s not so much the user name, but the device name.

Anyway, https://www.google.com/search?q=change+username+Netbios+connection+Mac seems to give a few solutions. But it’s not really clear to what version of the OS they apply, so you might need to try a few.
One of the ten hits on the first page I saw is this discussion here. Ain’t that nice?
