    MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION and freezes

    by laanebooj ·

After swapping my motherboard and CPU (MSI MAG Z390 TOMAHAWK and i7 9700k) I freeze at automatic repair or at MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION BSoD. I’m trying to do a clean Windows install but when I boot from a USB installation medium it freezes after asking for a product key.

This makes me believe it’s a hardware error, but I do not know what it is. How can I troubleshoot this?

All parts (CPU, GPU, RAM, drives) are recognised by the motherboard.

Could be a Timing Issue with your RAM

So to test that remove all but I Module and try again. If it works refit the RAM after the install is complete and use you computer.

If it doesn’t you’ll need to do some Diagnostic and the Ultimate Boot CD is probably the easiest to use and you can download it free so that is what I would suggest.
