Machine missing from network

Can someone tell me how to make a machine show up on the network. All the machines in that department show up by their netbios machine name except one. they all run WXP Pro SP2.

Have you checked to see if computer browser service is running on box in question? find out by start > run and enter service.msc Scroll to computer browser make sure its status is started and set to atuomatic.

Must have file sharing enabled...

In order for the system to show up on the network, it must be capable of sharing resources to the network. As such, you need to add the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks component to the list in the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box.

The most common I have seen is the firewall is blocking this. Whether the MS or zonealarm or what ever. Check that.

Is it set to the same domain?

Is it set to the same work group?

Can it see other systems?

NIC might be bad.
