MacIntosh Client w/Outlook 98 and NT Dom

By bbrandelli ·
We are not sure of the versions of OS but are probably current.
How can each side be configured?
What services are required, if any, for each side?

Exchange, nothing
Mac Clients, set them up to use DHCP. install the Outlook98 (which is not the same as the PC Outlook98), go to settings, auto create profile, then log into exchange with notmal username/domain/password.

Works for me

If you're using Exchange 5.5 -- make sure the NT Server (4) has services for Macintosh running...Install SP 6a for NT Server, and SP 3 for Exchange (important)...create a mailbox for the user in Exchange...that's all at the server end.

For the client, install MS Outlook, then under Macintosh HD, select the Outlook folder, under which you'll find 'Outlook settings'...assuming TCP/IP is installed and working properly, it'll prompt you to enter the Exchange Server Name, and Mailbox Name for which you want to set the profile up...enter the info required, and click on the 'check name' button...if there's communication between client and server, the mailbox name you entered will be resolved to the full name assigned to the mailbox and the Exchange Server, and Mailbox Name will be underlined. Set up your delivery options (straight forward)...close the settings, power cycle your MAC, and rock & roll...

Try pasting a shortcut to 'kixstart.exe' on your clients' start-up folder...i.e. copy kixstart.exe from your network shared drive, then open up start menu on your client machine, open startup, then paste-shortcut...power cycle, and see if that solves the problem...
