Mail Abuse

By DeborahW ·
when fraudulent email arrives, is there anyway of taking action to prevent receipt. The notorious "Nigeria" email arrives in my mailbox at least 3 times a week. I have tried using mail abuse services at both Yahoo and AltaVista but the problem just seems to get worse.

Is there also a place where i can find out how I am identified, as they use my full name, which to my knowledge i have never registered to any site?

You should be able to filter any unwanted e-mail in most e-mail programs. Which e-mail application are you using?

Deb,

They may have your name because of you putting it into some identifier field in your email setting. Change your identification to say a slightly different name for each of your email services and you may find which one is being used for the Nigeria spam. I get those too and I hate it :) I think they use some program to look at all the mailboxes on a server, even one with anti-spam software on it. Go figure.
