mail missing from Outlook Express

Several recent months worth of mail went missing this afternoon from OE Inbox when I started the program. I have no idea where to look for the missing mail (I tried to look for files with extentions .eml or .dbx to no avail). I have found several .dbx files but I did not find the missing mail.

Please help me to locate and retrieve the missing mail.
