Mail Problem In Windows 2000 Server

By koulmanoj ·
I have Win NT 4.0 SP6 servers, on which I have MS Proxy server 2.0 in one of my Win NT 4.0 server. But I have some applications which are running only in Windows 2000 Server
The Problem is i am not able to Configure a mail client (Outlook Express 5.0) on it ?
It gives me POP3 & SMTP error? I tried all the options in my Pxoxy Server (POP3 & SMTP),but could not resolve the problem.

Is it possible to configure my mail client on Windows 2000 server?

Can anybody tell me the procedure of configuring the mail cllient on the server using my Proxy Server?

Good news and bad news:

To get POP3 and SMTP configured, you will need to use the WINSOCK PROXY client on your W2K server. You must also enable ports 25 and 119 on your outbound Proxy server filters to be allowed for your server's IP Address. The bad news is that you can easily mess up the clients who are wanting to access the W2K server by doing this. You will need to make sure that you have the MS Proxy client configured with a good LAT, and to not use the proxy server for addresses in the LAT.
