mail/proxy server for win and unix serve

I have a workgroup with win98 clients with unix server and I want to set up mail and proxy server on a windows.After seting up WinNT Server as domain controller and giving the individual client IP address they stopped accessing the unix server.What is the best way of seting up the proxy server.I want to use Wingate and Mdaemon on NT.Job on the line PLEASE

Based in on the information you provided, this should not be a problem. Your Win 98 clients would access the NT Server where your proxy server is installed through "Wingate Client" and access your mail server via TCP at port 25, please check your addressing.

Or you can use SQUID (www.squid-cache.org) to transparently proxy all request for HTTP to your squid machine. In this manner you no longer need to isntall any "Client Software" or manually configuring the browsers. This thing works, Ihave implemented with a number of ISPs already. It will even make configuration easier.

The best option from my point of view is to use Squid on the Unix server and make it the proxy, so you dont need any kind of confguration in the clients, only the address of the proxy server.
Anyway, if you prefer to use the Windows solution, as you describe it will be no problem, the only thing is that you will need a client for each computer... or you can try with another Proxy server (check www.cnet.com).
