    mail thru cascaded proxy

    Locked

    by abrar hazarika ·

Our workgroup is using a local proxy server, from which traffic is forwarded to another proxy server on a linux machine. There it is Squid Proxy running. Since the Squid doesn’t transport Mail protocols so we are faced with the problem of using onlyweb based mails. Mail clients like Outlook Express cannot be used.
I tried using HTTPort between the proxy servers but it didn’t work out. Are there anyone familiar with it? Or is there a better solution? We are not in a position to tune the linuxmachine.
So any solution from the workgroup side is welcome.

Are you certain about the Squid not being able to route mail? That should be a fairly standard setting.

You should be able to open port 110 (POP3) on your proxy.
Not having access to the LINUX box prevents you from changing the POP3 port.
Other than that, I’d advise finding a proxy system that will forward your mail port (WinProxy, SyGate, etc.)
