Mailbox Size Limits Research Questions

by postscript . Updated 25 years ago

We impose a global size limit on our users. As expected we have about 2% that are exceptions to that rule. We are currently trying to implement a policy about granting exceptions – this has been going on for almost a year now. Our fear is that ifthere is no policy for exceptions and mailbox sizes the IS will grow out of control since people are generally lazy about cleaning up their e-mail. The business value of managing their e-mail is low compared to their daily work.

What is your rate of exceptions to size for mailbox limits?
Do you implement both an e-mail retention policy (we have one) and a mailbox size exception policy?

We run Exchange 5.5 and utilize Mailbox Manager.
