Maintaining a Network Connect with XP

By Raynold ·
I have a, non-profit, group where we have a few pcs, less than 10 networked.
The problem is that the network connection doesn't hold after log off/shut down.
I can re-establish for each PC the network connection to the main PC each time after log on. How do I set up the network connection so that it stays connected after shutdown?

What do you mean it doesn't hold?

Are you running Wireless???

Do you mean machines get a new IP each time?

How could it stay connected after a shutdown? I mean it's not there is it?

Holding after a a logoff is a "simple" matter of not establishing the connection as the logged on user. eg you have a service that manages the connection and then the logged on user connects to the service.

Resestablishing the connection after a restart would be something the service did, but it isn't ever going to be connected while it doesn't exist!.

I'm not really sure what has happened here so it's probably easier to start over from Scratch and setup the Network Properly.

I'm naturally supposing that you have Chosen to Share Files & printers here though.
