Maintenance Operations

I have eliminated all excess files with Disk Cleanup and have Defragmented my computer, in an attempt to obtain better performance. However, I understand that I should also Tweak the page file and Optimize the registry, actions that I am unfamilar with. How do I find and Tweak or Optimize the file and registry?
