    Managed Cisco POE+ reccomendations

    by chinson-pdx ·

Looking to replace our A/V network switches with managed Cisco POE+ 48 port switches, stacking not required — but what models makes sense? Looking for current or recent generation models.

I’m aware the 9200Ls exist but they’re pricey and the lead times are bonkers right now. Are there any other Cisco models I could look at, even on the lightly-used market? Thanks in advance.

I would ask the IT lead or CIT why we are replacing working hardware. My bets would be on “Best practices” or security but in a wired system we control access to the office space so again we’re back to challenging the CIT/CIO over what looks like a needless expense.

You can take a look at NVT Phybridge’s PoLRE 48-port managed switch. They are PoE capable and have long reach capability. They can support IP devices up to 365m on a CAT3 cable.

NVT Phybridge is a technology partner of Cisco and is part of their black belt academy. So, they are every bit as trustworthy and good as Cisco.
