Managing a database environment

by steve battisti . Updated 24 years, 1 month ago

I have the opportunity to become the “operations manager” for a global HR Systems group using PeopleSoft in an Oracle/Unix environment. This wouldn’t be full data center type-stuff. More along the lines of managing the applications – change control, good business processes for migrating changes into the production environment, etc.

I’d really like to find a training course somewhere that can help me get my feet wet and get my brain moving in the right direction.

Does anyone have suggestions, either for places that might offer this sort of training, or their own personal thoughts on key aspects of this sort of work?

For example, if you were to take this job, what would be the first three things you would examine?
