Manually Uninstalling Active Directory

By cbarone ·
I had a two Windows 2000 Advanced Server environment with one server designated as the Primary Domain Controller and one as the Backup Domain Controller.

I had to re-image the Primary Domain Controller due to certain complications and cannot uninstall Active Directory with DCPromo on the backup domain controller. I have tried checking the box stated that this is the last domain controller in the domain and vice versa.

I get the following error.

The operation failed because:

Failed finding a suitable domain controller for the domain ?

?The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.?

I want to delete active directory in Server2 that was acting as a BDC and recreate it as a BDC in the new domain I created.

It seems that the reason I cannot uninstall active directory on the BDC is because the PDC no longer exists under the same name.

Any ideas to work around this issue?

Thank you in advance.
