map a drive at logon

By bradq ·
Hi. We have a Windows 2000 Server that has a shared folder on it. We need the users when they logon to the workstations to automatically get an F: drive mapped to the share. \\server\share How can this be setup to do it when they login without having to manually map it?

Have you tried checking "reconnect at logon" when mapping the drive on the client side?

You can use a logon script. By making a batch file and listing the mappings you can define several different ones for different users if needed. When the user logs on the mappings are done.

Sleyba is correct...

Just mack a script file to map users to the "public folder".

In their profiles on the server, link all users to that script.

flan@mednet.ucla.edu is correct... that is the proper usage for the network share.

You can write a short batch file an include it in a logon script.

Here is the code you would need to do that

net use f: \\server\share

net use f: \\server\share /persistent /yes

var WshNetwork = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network");
WshNetwork.MapNetworkDrive ("s:", "\\\\server1\\share");

put this on a notepad and safe it as *.js

Good luck

WScript.echo("try this!");
