Map "My Documents" path w/ login script

By ja_seaton ·
I have all the computers connecting to my Windows 2000 server point MyDocs to the user's home network drive (h:). Currently I have to set this for all new users and workstations that are brought in. I'd like to make this automatic using a login script so I have one less thing to do when creating users. Just a note: I know GP has the ability to do this, but it will not work in my case.

Just one other thing. How do you create a shortcut on the user's desktop using a login script. I'd like to provide them with a shortcut on their desktop to a folder on the server but I don't want to map a drive.

Thanks

Hi,
If you have not tried already....
i am not a windows 2000 expert, but i had a similar problem in Novell.
I executed a registry key from a novell script.
find the reg key on the user pcs, copy it to the script , modify it.
If you cant execute it from the script as is, try it via a .bat.
There are various switches with reg keys, pop onto the microsoft website.

Good luck
