Not sure how to switch the option back on, but you could always use the dos method.

Open command prompt and type;

net use <Enter Drive Name> <Path Name>

eg

net use J: \\AdminPC\c\admin

This will create a mapped drive called 'J' which points to C:\admin on adminpc.

To remove a mapped drive type;

Net use J: /delete

and to view all mapped drives type;

net use

Hope this helps

Start with applying patches fixes and updates or reapplying the latest service pack to your system. These items refresh files with more current versions than the ones that exist or don't exist in your case. I suspect this would help you greatly as a start. You can access patches by clicking on tools, windows updates and applying patches for your system. This requires a fast internet connection like a cable modem and a partially functional computer.
